In just 15 days we will usher the arrival of the Water Dragon. Wait ! Wait ! Not 15 days, it should be 36 days because the arrival of spring ( 立春   ) is on 13/02/2012. Until then we can only say that it is the year of Dragon. The arrival should be welcomed with open arms as the world is getting warmer due to global warming caused by our own doings. We should also celebrate the arrival of the Dragon because the  7th troublesome star that rocked the world with natural disasters like earthquake , typhoons and floods as well as revolution and financial crisis will be replaced by No.6th Flying Star which acts as “anchor tenant” for the world. May I wish that peace and prosperity be accord to this world after 4th of February 2012.

The arrival of Water Dragon in I-Ching means ( 水风 井  ). If we translate it in layman language it means careful selection of candidates so as to ensure that the right man doing the right job. With many countries having their General Election coming soon, this means that there will be a change in leadership especially in countries that is dominated by the 7th Flying Star and the Five Yellow or Wu-Hwang.

If we assume that the globe is a BaGua, then Great Britain and the Scandinavians will be dominated by the 7th Flying Star which signifies troublesome and quarrelsome conditions shall prevail. This is alarming as the Great Britain is hosting the coming Olympic Games. We cannot rule out that there might be some terrorism activities during the game period. SouthEast Asia in the same period is dominated by the Wu-Hwang which is also not so comfortable. This means that the region comprising the 9 countries will be facing a hard time economically, politically and socially due to changing environment and natural disasters. In the North, the Russians will also face some problem as the Three Killings are there waiting to pounce on any issue that arises.

In general, the world leaders should exercise their rights and powers with great wisdom so as not to trig  off the bad qi in these areas. Otherwise the whole world will collapse economically and politically just as predicted. A consolation for us is that if we, as human beings cooperate to solve the world problems wisely, then we might be able to evade the collapse of the world as translate by the Water Dragon.

When I reported for duty on 23rd August 2003, my arrival was met by 3 workers that were sitting along the corridor. I was a little bit confused and dazed by the environment and conditions of the so called high school. Shrubs and small trees growing wildly on the gutters and roof top. There were holes on the roof and there were no window panes for the windows. I asked myself whether I was at the correct place. This thought surfaced because it looks like I was visiting one of the centuries old castles in Europe which I had visited. My heart and expectation dropped to the lowest ebb. How am I going to live up to the expectation of my boss given the time-framed of 28 months before I retired from my service?

The school term was coming to an end and I noticed that most of the staffs were unhealthy physically. This prompted me to come to conclusion that there was something wrong with the environment. A thorough auditing of the buildings was necessary to ascertain what sort of corrective measures should be taken to put the whole thing on the correct track. The main office block is sitting on the south and facing the north but the whole building was painted blue and along the corridor were potted plants which is against the principle of feng shui. Blue color represents water while the plants are wood. In fact wood is good for fire in the productive cycle but in this particular case it is wood soaked in water. How can wet wood be a source for fire? To activate the chi (fire), the building was repainted red including the floor. This is because fire is the type of chi that can be activated immediately. If you don't believe, try to light a match stick, it will lit up immediately. The same thing goes to water. In fact, among the five elements namely; wood, fire, earth, metal and water, fire and water are the two elements that can produce results instantly.

Miracles occurred after the workers finished painting. I discovered that the potted plants died off one by one. At first, I suspected that the workers forgot to water them or purposely put some weed killer to it because they had been in the comfort zone earlier. I took a closer look at the plants and immediately discard the assumption earlier. The plants died because the fire chi started burning them. The good chi (energy) had been successfully revived. Thanks God!

The second step I took to strengthen the chi of the environment is to build an artificial waterfall in the XUN place. Xun represents the wood. In feng shui water is represented by numerical 1 while xun carries numerical 4 and according to feng shui principle, if we group together water and xun, then good things will happen. True enough after the completion of the mini waterfalls, there was a string of frogs and toads being drawn to the pool. This is strange thing as my school is situated in the centre of the town surrounded by concrete forest. Where the frogs and toads came? No ones can give an explanation to the phenomena but since then, every member (both the pupils and staffs) is working happily and highly motivated to put back the past glory that had been lost a decade ago. Feng shui can also tell us whether our personal kua is complementary or supplementary to our spouse's personal kua. Its also help to explain why certain couples are not in good terms and there are many hurdles in life while others have a smooth sailing life-span. To get the correct spouse to be our life long partner is crucial and it should be the top priority. We should choose the type of spouse that is by our side when we are in difficulties but also can be with us in time of prosperity. According to Webster's Dictionary, "stress is a state of bodily or mental tension resulting from factors that tend to alter an existent equilibrium" Aha! There you see, stress will disturb existing equilibrium resulting in disequilibrium. This is because according to research, our bodies respond to stress by pumping adrenaline into our systems as a way to prepare for "fight or flight." Our muscles tense, we are ready to fight or flee for our very lives just like our original ancestor. The problem now is we can neither fight nor flight. This is because the source of our stress might not be a living thing. It is a machine. How can you fight with your own computer that is faulty when you want to start your work? How can you fight or "killed' your colleagues that give you all sorts of problems? All this will lead to further stress in life resulting in disequilibrium of our body system. In the jaguar of feng shui, there is imbalance of the yin qi and the yang qi. The tense muscles in the mother's womb might "eject out" the conceived embryo resulting in miscarriages. This imbalance leads to infertility. So in my opinion, the very first step to solve infertility problem is to balance off the yin qi and the yang qi by undress your stress. There are ways to undress your stress and there are many books written on this topic but the easiest ways are to laugh, to dance and to do regular exercises like qigong, yoga, tai chi and meditation just to mention few of it.

The second culprit causing infertility, in my opinion is the imbalance of magnetic field between human body and the alignment of the house that we stay. This makes sense as we know that from science, like poles expel and unlike poles attract. In Chinese Metaphysics, it is important that we strike a balance or equilibrium of our body by staying in houses that align to our personal kua. According to feng shui, each of us is born with a personal kua according to the year born. As an example, anyone born in 1970 will have a personal kua of WOOD and accordingly he or she should stay in houses that face certain direction that will nourish the growth of wood. If he or she succeeds in doing so, then there will be smooth sailing through not only in the carrier but in health, wealth and family harmony. For anyone who wishes to know his or her personal kua and the type of house to buy and stay, I would like to suggest that you consult your feng shui master to get the correct and accurate advice. This is important as every feng shui counselor knows that if we put our oven on certain corner of the house, or sleep with our head points towards certain direction we might not be able to conceive. There are also other taboos that we should observe to avoid disaster and catastrophe in life. Home Affairs Minister of Singapore, Mr. Wong Kan Seng revealed that Singapore needs 60,000 births each year but the present rate is 35,600 babies annually. Singapore fears a low birth rate will have a long-term economic impact and increase the proportion of elderly citizens relative to those of working age, and will encounter rising social welfare costs.

Aha! You see, even the minister is worried now. The minister did not mention why there is low birth rate? He only mentioned that Singapore has intensified efforts to address the baby shortage in recent years with a raft of measures to encourage married Singaporeans to have more children. Little did the minister realize that most Singaporeans are under stress or imbalance in life which is probably the cause for low birth rate? It is not the question of not to have children, it is the problem for most married couples that wish to have children are unable to do so due to the following reasons:

(i) rising cost of living and cost of bringing up children vis-a-vis the annual income received over the past few years,

(ii) the space factor, this is because many Singaporeans find it difficult, if not impossible to own landed properties to house the increase family size,

(iii) problem of miscarriages and lack of confident in getting normal delivery,

(iv) Problem of unable to conceive or what we called infertility.

Factors (i) and (ii) involve policy making and the element of long term economic planning. I will focus only on factors (iii) and (iv) because they are my topics of discussion from the aspect of Chinese Metaphysics or the so called Feng Shui.

According to a survey on population growth, it was discovered that out of every ten married couples, there are basically two had the problem of infertility. Miscarriages and infertility is the syndrome of modern living. There is a high correlation between miscarriages and infertility with working environment, food consumed and lodging. The tense working life style nowadays makes many workers unable to have proper meals. Fast food is the substitute for many. Besides, in order to keep up the space of productivity as required by the organization, over time schedule is not uncommon. The end result is that the workers will go home with stress bodies which need a good rest and there is no time for sex activity. Even if there is sex, either because of duty-bound or other factors, the "stressed" sperms are too weak to make their way up the passage to rendezvous with the equally "tired" eggs. Under such circumstances, do you think it is possible for fertilization to take place? Supposed there is fertilization, I am quite sure the embryo w ill not be healthy embryo physically and it will "drop' anytime before mature just like other unhealthy fruits that drop before ripe.

I think Singapore will achieve her target of 60,000 births per year if the said minister outline ways and methods of undress the stress of the married couples. Return the existing equilibrium to them and try to provide favorable environment for the couples although other incentives mentioned earlier are of equal importance.

As I have mentioned earlier, two other factors that are of equal importance are food and lodging. As for food, every one of us knows that it is important to have balanced diet in order to have healthy body. This needs special knowledge and it is better to seek the advice of nutritionists so that you get what you want. I would like to touch a little bit on lodging or the place we live. Most of us would agree with me that we spend one-third of our time daily on bed, so the type of bed and the position of the bed is very crucial. As for the type, it is up to individual taste. What I want to stress is the position of the bed in the bedroom as well as the location of the bedroom in the house.

The Chinese Metaphysics dictates that for married couples to get descendants, they must stay in the room located in the Sang Qi or Tien Ee place. This is because at these two location the natural qi will help to harness babies and couples who make love in these type of rooms will give birth to smart, intelligent and healthy kids. To be effective and more accurate, the couples must sleep with their heads pointing towards the Yen Nien direction. By doing so, our bodies system will achieve equilibrium that is needed for reproduction. There is also rising alarm cases that mother who has encountered miscarriage try to "steal" new-born baby from others and claim to be her.

In order to solve this type of social problem, the society should commit to give social and emotional support for the family especially the mother such as providing counseling so that one learns to accept what happened and not get angry with things in life.

I am not a medical doctor; as such I cannot give my opinion on this topic from medical point of view. But as a qigong cum feng shui master I would like to share with my readers some salient points which I think could be useful for those who face the problem of miscarriage. According to traditional Chinese belief, miscarriage is due to the "cold womb" of the mother and there are ways to "warm" the mother's womb. One of the ways is to take up qigong exercises which eventually will make the womb conducive to conceive. This helps to explain why so many housewives took up various qigong classes such as, weitangong, zenengchigong, hesiangong, taichi18steps,Yeoh's taichi, Teoh's taichi and others. Although taking up qigong prove to be effective, it takes time. Generally, it will take up three to four years to see the results.

If you are busy and have no time for qigong practice, then I would like to recommend that you seek the advice of feng shui master. This is because according to feng shui, the womb is analogy to the house where the mother live. From the perspective of bagua or trigam, womb is symbolized by the KUN gua. Adjustment on this gua will help to enhance the condition of the womb and will create conducive environment for fetus. Genuine feng shui master who has knowledge in this field could easily help you to solve your problem. A word of caution is that not all feng shui master is able to provide service in this field because it involves other related kua like the personal kua of the mother, the house and the location of the yen nen in the house. Lastly, let me quote the saying of Etienne De Grefet which I take it as my guidance in life:

Over the breakfast table, my friend showed me a piece of news that really shocked me. It was reportedly that the daughter-in-law was killed by the father-in-law using shot-gun over some small matter in the kitchen. Accordingly, the father-in-law brought back a piece of wild boar meat and he kept it inside the fridge. Due to his carelessness, there were few drops of blood on the floor. This make the daughter-in-law grumble over the dirty floor. Without saying anything, the father-in-law went back to his room and came out with his shot-gun firing at the head of the daughter-in-law, a house wife, who at that point of time was washing the dishes in the basin. The father-in law killed him-self after killing the daughter-in-law. This incident must have been a bit scary.

Well, according to the law of cause and effect, there must be some causes that trigger off the incident resulting in the tragedy. For feng shui practitioner, kitchen is one of the six important section of the house that controls, wealth, health, prosperity and harmony. The oven has to be located correctly at the place where it should be located otherwise, catastrophe and bad luck will befall and the family will be in chaotic condition .There were many precedent before the above incident. During my practice, my grandmaster always caution me to be careful when doing reading for kitchen because kitchen is the place where the mouth takes in food which contains chi, The chi might be good or it might be bad depending on the direction of the stove. According to Chinese saying, all troubles in life come from the mouth and all sickness enter through the mouth too.

To place the stove in the correct direction and the proper place where it should be, you need to seek the advice of a feng shui master. Of course, the real feng shui master, not the half-past six type. This is because the effect of kitchen alone is not enough to counteract the evil effect. Reading should be done for the whole house and alignment must be fine-tuning so that it harness the good chi for all that stay in the same house. How are we going to know our personal kua and the personal kua of our so called spouse to be? Well! When we are born, we bring along our personal kua. There are all together 8 types of kua ranging from 1 to 9. 1 is kan symbolizing water, 2 is kun symbolizes wet earth, 3 is zhen symbolizes hard wood, 4 is xun symbolizes soft wood, 5 is wu hwang symbolizes earth, 6 is qien symbolizes hard metal, 7 is zui symbolizes soft metal, 8 is ken symbolizes hard earth or rock, and 9 is li symbolizes fire. These 8 types of kua can be group into two categories namely the East group (Tong Sze Ming) and the West Group (Si Sze Ming). It is best that person belong to the same group get married to each another as what the proverb said "Birds of the same feather flocked together." But don't get worry if you discover your spouse does not belong to the same group. Go and consult your feng shui master, there is a way to do alignment on your personal kua so that both of your can live harmoniously.

The most common happening among the Chinese society is for the childless couple to adopt a child so that this child could induce the mother to give birth to more siblings. In most cases, it works! The child is used as catalyst to increase the rate of reproduction. This century old practice has been going on till today. There are many explanations toward this happening but one thing for sure is that it is the mind set that influences the biological body to accomplish certain jobs that are difficult or unlikely before.

The idea that the mind can influence and actually mold the biological body to a certain degree is not new. There is a Biblical storey in Genesis that illustrates this point. This concerns the manner in which Jacob was able to successfully build up his own flock. Jacob has been working for his father-in-law, Laban, for approximately twenty years and yearned to establish himself financially. An agreement was made between Laban and Jacob that all goats born speckled, spotted and striped, and all lambs born black would belong to Jacob. Laban, being shrew businessman, that same day removed all the male goats that were streaked or spotted, and all the speckled or spotted female goats (all that had white on them), including all the dark-colour lambs. Genetically, it would be very difficult, if not unlikely, to breed the types of goats and lambs promised to him.

Jacob, through divine guidance, "took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond and plane trees and made white stripes on them by peeling the bark and exposing the white inner wood of the branches. Then he placed the peeled branches in all the watering troughs, so that they would be directly in front of the flocks when they came to drink. When the flocks were in heat and came to drink, they mated in front of the branches. And they bore young that were streaked or speckled or spotted" (Genesis 30:37-39). In this way, Jacob became very prosperous. As to the outcome concerning the black lambs, the Holy Bible was not clear about it.

From this story, it becomes clear that what we see, feel, and think can influence the biological body. In a more specific term, the environment influences our mind and action resulting in the type of product we are to produce. This is what feng shui can do for you. Experienced and qualify Feng shui master will able to set up a scenario which is conducive for those unable to conceive to accomplish that objective by removing the stress and negative emotions stored in the body that creates blockages in the body reproductive system. Feng shui healing is not intended to replace orthodox medicine, but rather to complement it.
